“Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing.” Philippians 2:3-4How do you think this verse relates to the “manners” of social media that these articles (1 & 2) discuss?

This scripture really spoke to me. God asked me, “Kayla, why are you doing this? Why are you writing articles and interacting through social media… what is your intention? Is it to help others – to connect with them on their level and be there for them? Or is it to make yourself look good? To get those retweets, link backs, and mentions. Are you in a competition? Trying to dominate over other people, thinking you are better than them? Do you think you are?  Why?

“Are you doing this for your glory or mine?”

It hit home. I haven’t been humble, I have been puffed up with pride and self-focus. God brought me back to what really matters – doing this for his glory, not mine. In all honesty, this is something I struggle with. But the cool thing is, I can declare that right here, right now, by sharing it with you. I am able to say, publicly online, that I want to give the glory to him. I want what I do here to be about helping you and being interested in your affairs. Not about creating a good impression online or feeling better than anyone else. I want to be authentic. I want to be real, helpful, and thankful. I want to work for God. 🙂

So, how can I help you?
