Happy Wednesday from AI Smart!
I was testing creating a proposal using You.com‘s genius mode and I usually like to use Claude, so I switched the model in the same chat and reprompted it. I didn’t know it could do that! Then I tried gemini pro 1.5 and got a bad result, then I tried o1 aka Strawberry and got a great result. Within just a couple of minutes I saw the outputs of multiple models within the same chat and got a great result.

This Week’s Insights
YouTube is Jumping into the AI Conversation 🎬💡
YouTube is ushering in a new era of creativity with the integration of AI tools that promise to redefine how creators produce content. The introduction of Google DeepMind’s Veo into YouTube Shorts allows creators to generate dynamic video backgrounds and six-second standalone clips, revolutionizing visual storytelling. This empowers creators to bring imaginative concepts to life, significantly enhancing their content without replacing their unique creative flair. The upgraded Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio, powered by generative AI, offers a wealth of ideas, to help creators craft engaging content by suggesting video ideas, titles, and outlines.
These AI tools are designed to boost productivity while deepening community engagement. With features like the AI-enhanced ‘Community’ hub and automatic dubbing for multilingual reach, creators can forge stronger connections with their audiences. Additionally, initiatives like ‘Hype’ and ‘Jewels’ are designed to foster real-time fan engagement, opening new revenue streams and expanding global reach (TBD if these really work). By harnessing these innovative tools, creators can not only amplify their creative output but also unlock fresh opportunities for growth and monetization across YouTube’s ever-evolving platform. We are not sure how this is going to play out and we are watching…YouTube 😉
AI Urgency UK🏃👾
Google has issued a stark warning to the UK, emphasizing the nation’s risk of falling behind in the global AI race without swift governmental action. The tech giant’s call to action advocates for the development of more data centers and the easing of copyright laws to foster AI innovation. Google’s managing director, Debbie Weinstein, stresses the importance of leveraging the UK’s historical leadership in AI, urging policy changes to maintain competitiveness. Key recommendations from Google include creating a “national research cloud” to supply startups and academics with essential computing power and data, and implementing a national skills service to prepare the workforce for AI integration. These measures could significantly enhance productivity by providing the infrastructure needed to support cutting-edge AI models.
Additionally, Google proposes adjusting copyright regulations to facilitate text and data mining, crucial for training AI models on vast datasets, which could unlock substantial benefits for businesses and public services. The report also endorses “pro-innovation” regulation, encouraging the government to optimize existing regulatory frameworks rather than introducing new ones. This approach aims to streamline AI advancements while maintaining public trust and safety. As the UK government drafts its AI opportunities action plan, these strategic recommendations highlight the potential for increased productivity and sustained AI leadership on a global scale. The UK needs to get on AI or they’ll get left behind.
Civil Rights Concerns⚖️✊
A government report by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has raised significant concerns about the widespread use of facial recognition technology in law enforcement and other federal applications. This technology, while offering potential benefits such as enhanced security and streamlined identification processes, disproportionately affects people of color and women due to its lack of accuracy and oversight. The commission emphasizes that without rigorous testing and regulation, this AI tool could perpetuate existing biases and infringe on civil rights. The unregulated deployment of facial recognition systems across at least 18 federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, highlights the urgent need for comprehensive policies to ensure fairness and accountability.
Despite the privacy and accuracy issues cited, facial recognition technology continues to be a staple in various sectors due to its promise of improving efficiency and productivity. For instance, the Department of Homeland Security has been integrating these tools within border control and immigration probes, claiming a high accuracy rate for different ethnicities. However, ongoing discrepancies, such as difficulties in identifying Black asylum seekers, underscore the importance of ongoing testing and adjustments. As the technology evolves, it is crucial for federal bodies to address these disparities to harness AI’s full potential responsibly.
Sam Altman Fueling Global Expansion 🌎
OpenAI, led by CEO Sam Altman, is spearheading an ambitious initiative to exponentially increase computing power essential for advancing artificial intelligence capabilities. By engaging with investors from the United Arab Emirates, chip manufacturers in Asia, and officials in the United States, Altman is fostering a multitrillion-dollar collaboration aimed at constructing new computer chip factories and data centers worldwide, including in West Asia. This strategic expansion is set to bolster AI development, significantly enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of AI-driven solutions, thus setting a new benchmark in global tech innovation.
The plan promises to yield substantial benefits in productivity, as the increased computing infrastructure will enable the creation of more powerful AI systems. These advancements are expected to continue to revolutionize organizations by improving automation, streamlining operations, and fostering innovation. Despite some regulatory concerns, the talks have gained momentum, extending into Europe and Canada, indicating a broad commitment to this transformative vision.
Meta is at it Again🤑🧐
Meta’s latest AI advancements are encouraging user interaction across its platforms by introducing voice capabilities and intelligent photo analysis. Users can now engage with Meta AI via voice on Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, allowing for conversations that include question-answering and light-hearted interactions. This feature includes customizable voice options from celebrities, enhancing personalization. In addition to voice, Meta AI now boasts the ability to analyze and edit photos. These tools empower users to interact more naturally and creatively, which they say, as all other AI tools, will increase productivity.
On the business front, Meta is expanding its AI tools. The new business AI capabilities enable thousands of enterprises to utilize click-to-message ads on WhatsApp and Messenger, facilitating customer support and commerce. These tools are intended to improve customer engagement and also drive sales. That’s TBD. Additionally, Meta’s AI-powered translation feature is being tested, it will offer automatic dubbing and lip-syncing for Reels, to broaden content accessibility. As Meta continues to iterate its AI technology we are keeping an eye on how it’s going to make our lives better and how they are going to use our information to create and iterate on these AI tools.
