Launched a little more than two years ago, Pinterest is now the third largest social networking site only behind Facebook and Twitter. It boasts 10.4 million members on its website. Now, we will explore why that is looking at some startling statistics.

  • 1. Facebook: 7 billion
  • 2. Twitter: 182 million
  • 3. Pinterest: 104 million
  • 4. LinkedIn: 86 million
  • 5. Tagged: 72 million
  • 6. Google+: 61 million

On the other hand, according to comScore, who only measure the number of unique visitors (people who have never visited the site before), Pinterest attracted 6.1 million new unique visitors between January and February, for a total of 17.8 million. And in February to March, 900,000 unique visitors came to the site for a total of 18.7 million unique visitors.
