Spotlight Sunday: TeachStreet, “The Craigslist for Classes”

A while back I had the pleasure of listening t0 the founder of TeachStreet, Dave Schappell, speak about his journey through building a successful company. It was a great presentation and he was extremely honest about the rigors of doing so, even admitting at one point that the only reason he was able to get through the morning was thanks to a quadruple shot of espresso.

online marketing, social media

I thought his idea was great and obviously so do a lot of other people, because TeachStreet is doing very well. The basic function of the site is to provide a place for people to offer classes of any kind to others. Dave referred to it, half-jokingly, as the Craigslist for classes.

Anyhow, the site is fantastic, it has local offerings for a growing number of cities and Dave is working hard to continue crafting the service into what he imagined when he set out. He puts it nicely on the site when describing TeachStreet as “a dynamic online community that brings motivated learners and talented teachers together.”

TeachStreet is just one great tool you can use to keep on learning (My mom thinks I should be taking some cooking classes, but I am not so sure). Anyway, whether just for kicks or for furthering your career, TeachStreet has the classes you are looking for. Give it a try, keep on collecting new knowledge and skills, because what else is really important in life than learning?

And of course, don’t forget to consider one of our very own Salty Waffle events as well, I guarantee you will learn a ton from one of those.
