Social Resume: Something Besides LinkedIn, Please! [Part 2]

Hopefully you got a good start on your weekend social resume project, because we have part 2 ready and roaring for you with three more sites you should be a part of besides just LinkedIn. Get through these and you’ll leave the weekend with a shiny new online presence to be proud of!

  • BranchOut: They put it well, “BranchOut is the largest professional networking service on Facebook.” You can use BranchOut with your Facebook to connect with professionals that may not have LinkedIn, search a huge job database, and build connections that could lead to great opportunities. BranchOut is growing fast so get on it
  • Google Alerts: Be super crafty and set up a Google Alert for your name. This way you get notified when someone mentions you, new content moves into the top results, or links are made to your sites. Try that here and follow Google’s instructions if you need help. It’s important to know what is associated with you online and this is one of the simplest ways to track new content.
  • Retaggr: Retaggr is a great little site that does a number of neat things. You first create an account and add all of your social networks to it. Once you have them in, you can create interactive business cards, email signatures, and a basic profile page to share with anyone. It brings all that you do online to one, succinct location and puts it in a very professional package. Next time you sign your email, use your Retaggr signature, it makes it easy for the potential employer you are emailing with to find the social networks they’re going to look for anyway. It also has a live stream of your Twitter built in and a place for your VisualCV online resume. You can also add affiliations and logos of organizations you are connected with.
