The clouds are rolling in. That is, the metaphorical internet cloud those lovely Microsoft commercials keep harping on. There are a lot of great options out there to do all things cloud related, but since it seems to finally be in vogue, today we’re going to tell you a little bit about Dropbox.
Dropbox is a simple tool that makes it amazingly easy to sync files across multiple computers, to mobile devices, and also store a copy online for extra security. The idea behind it is in the name, drop box. A folder is the only interaction you have to do with the program, all you have to do is ‘drop’ files in that folder and whatever computers you have Dropbox on will be updated to have it within seconds.
Being a person that still uses an actual desktop often, gasp, I know, a simple way to keep my documents available no matter what machine I am on is a must. Using Dropbox for over a year now has been great, it is one of those rare tools that actually delivers on the promise of a seamless solution. If you know how to drag and drop, you can get your documents up in the cloud in a snap.
Other features allow you to share folders with other Dropbox users, select only certain files to sync with particular types of devices, and even share documents to your mobile device. Gone are the days of emailing yourself files or using one of those ancient artifacts known as flash drives.
Give Dropbox a try and have a great time in the clouds!
