Welcome back to Salty Social Media Vocabulary, where we explore and define all things social media and social media marketing. As the name indicates, there’s no specific theme to this week’s social media vocabulary list, so let’s get started!

Adwords: is the name for Google’s ever-popular PPC technology that targets adverts to specific keywords and search queries, and places the ads alongside organic search results.

Conversion: any time a visitor to a site takes desired action. A conversion doesn’t just refer to purchases, it can also refer to subscribing to a newsletter or membership, signing up for membership, or sharing a brand’s post on social.

Organic Traffic: is visitor traffic that is generated by a search engine that is not the result of advertising.

Paid Traffic: is when companies bid to promote adverts on keyword searches, the resulting visitor traffic is referred to as Paid Traffic.

Domain Authority: is a ranking scale used by search engines to determine the trustworthiness of a website–with 1 being the lowest and 100 being the highest.

Keyword Stuffing: is the art of “stuffing” or typing far too many keywords into website content in attempt to increase the content’s ranking on search engines. Most search engines will demote content that is obviously guilty of doing this, ergo we don’t recommend it.

That’s it for another Thursday. What’s your experience with organic and paid traffic? Do you have any good examples of keyword stuffing? Let us know in the comments! We’ll see you next week.
